Freedom of Education
By Ivy
Freedom of education is a very important part of history. If you weren’t white back then, you weren’t allowed to go to as good of a school as white people because they believed that blacks weren’t as equal. Blacks were treated horribly until Martin Luther King Jr. stood up for them.
In 1865, people were prejudice against different races. One of the many terrible ways they treated those different races was by not allowing them to go to the same school. Segregation spread all over the U.S. Even if you had a lower I.Q. level you couldn’t have as great of an education. The way we treated others, or we were treated makes some people cringe. Others don’t like the thought in their heads. Blacks or Indians didn’t always have it bad though. Some were very successful with their lives. Others were not. Freedom of Education is one issue Martin Luther King Jr. succeeded with. He worked hard to make all people equal.
Segregation between nations ended in the 1960’s. It is a period of time that we are not so proud of. For 95 years if we burned, hurt, or even killed different races, it didn’t always get us into trouble. Now it would, because “All are Equal.” Thank you Martin Luther King Jr. But most of all, thank you freedom!
